Ta-Ming High School, located in the northern district of Taichung, faced the challenge of excessive western sun exposure. To solve this problem, the architect worked with engineers who used computer simulations and SKA20-20 Series expanded metal.
Together, they calculated the optimal angle for redirecting sunlight. This innovative approach not only minimizes the negative effects of direct sunlight on students, but also effectively reduces indoor temperatures while promoting better airflow.
The versatility of expanded metal allowed for the creation of unique shapes, such as the sunshades at Ta-Ming High School. Through strategic cuts and support structures, the design achieves an intriguing geometric irregularity.
