Located in the northern part of Taichung, Ta-Ming High School addressed the issue of westward sun exposure by hiring engineers to use computer simulations in collaboration with ShangKai Steel's SKA20-20 expanded metal. This approach helped calculate the optimal sunlight reflection angles, creating a comfortable learning environment.
After the installation of expanded metal, direct sunlight was effectively reduced, enhancing the comfort of the learning environment. It lowered indoor temperatures, improved air circulation, and positively impacted students' well-being. Additionally, it reflects sustainable and circular principles, making it an ideal architectural solution.
The versatile design of the expanded metal gives Daming High School's sunshading design a distinctive character. The dark-colored powder coating contrasts sharply with the pristine white school building, while the various processing techniques of the expanded metal provide designers with greater creative freedom.
